STERANKO
Rare & Signed Books & Prints
As a musician, art director, magician, photographer, fire-eater, designer, escape artist, filmmaker, pop-culture lecturer, and publisher, Steranko has cut a ferocious path through the entertainment arts. The innovations he created as artist-writer on Marvel's S.H.I.E.L.D., Captain America, and X-Men titles revolutionized the comics form and, as an illustrator, he painted a multitude of book covers, including 30 Shadow paperbacks. Steranko has been associated with Vanguard from the beginning in the early-'90s and has said, "My longtime pal, award-winning author-historian J. David Spurlock and I first connected way back in '72, when I founded and managed Marvel's official fan club, FOOM! And we've had plenty of adventures since — many via his Vanguard Publishing company. Vanguard's Popular artist Sketchbook Series is the most significant in the history of comics."
